How not to do it!!
yeh yeh all laugh!! i fell in today, was leanin over the edge to get past some weed wen what i thought was grass turned out to be just floating grass and ended up falling strate in up to my chest in water!! it was bloody freezing and glad i have the correct gear to keep me nice and warm!!
on a serious note, this is not the first time iv fallen in on a canal etc. and if it was in flood or i was weighted down i could of really been in trouble!! its soooo easy to just get carried away with ya fishing and not concentrate on where you put your feet!!
so just please please be aware of where you are and if possible go out with a buddy so wen these very funny things happen you have help if needed, if not to at least take a picture and laugh lots!!
Check these out!!!!
Wrassin with Henry
well me and Henry Gilbey managed to head out for a much needed Wrassin session!! it was a pleasure to fish with Henry again and we have lots planned when the pike and perch show there wintery heads..... we headed out to Long quarry, which is my fav summer fishing spot with deep blue water around ya and gorgeous scenery as well as awsome fishing if you know when and where to fish!!
we started off the session by getting right into it with me rigging up my usuall bomb proof wrasse rigs, as soon as it hits the bottom "bang" there nailing the bait good old wrasse style! i literally had a slam every drop and nearly every drop came a nice wrasse, most bein tackers but all good fun! then while i carried on wrasse bashing Henry started shootin shots of various Bass lures for his modern Bass fishing series in Sea Angler.
we moved over various little coves and outcrops where wrasse where everywhere, we managed to pull some better wrasse out to around 3lb but still lots of little buggers! i lost a fair few decent fish which i just couldnt stop!!..... i was using just plain simple rag worm, thats the trick when wrassin everyone makes it soooo complicated its silly all you need is a decent strong spinning rod and decent reel and some good line! i use a 9ft Shimano Diaflash XT extra heavy spinning rod rated to 100gm and 4000 or 5000 size Shimano stradic loaded with berkley whiplash 30lb braid with 30lb mono leader.... thats all ya need!!
we fished most of the day with wrasse coming from every nook and cranny it was amazing fun and there was smiles all round!! hope you guys like the photos and maybe u guys should try to catch this fun summer fish its dead simple and they fight like stink!!
thanks again Henry your a Legend please check out www.henry-gilbey.co.uk
